Test Toaster 1 was a robot that contested the Lightweight Division in the 1995 and 1996 US Robot Wars. It was one of the earliest examples of a thwackbot, consisting of a two-wheeled axle/chassis with a sideways-facing thwacking arm made from a paint tin, a long screw-nail as a spike and a wooden plank. In 1996, the "spike" was replaced with a double-ended blade. Test Toaster 1 was successful, winning the Lightweight title in 1995 and reaching the Semi-Finals in 1996 before retiring. Its design was notably picked up on by several future BattleBots Competitors such as Blade Runner.
A Hobbyweight version of Test Toaster 1 named Test Toaster 0.12 competed at the 2006 RoboGames.
