Hefty was a semi-dome shaped robot that competed in Series 3 of Robot Wars. Hefty ran on tracks, and its armour was a black composite shell, painted yellow and decorated in flowers. Hefty had a retracting spear weapon, which boasted 150 pounds of pressure. Hefty was originally intended to have a srimech, consisting of two arms built into the side, but this had to be removed at the last minute, when Hefty came in 2 kilograms over the weight limit. This cost Hefty dear as it was flipped and immobilized in its only battle against X-Terminator.
A lot of drama was staged about whether team captain Stuart Reynolds' wife Karen knew how much her husband's machine had cost, with Philippa Forrester revealing on TV how much it cost (£2000), and then demanding that Reynolds take her out to dinner as compensation once Hefty had lost.
Hefty returned for Series 4 the following year, relatively unchanged from its Series 3 appearance, but it failed to qualify.
Robot History[]
In Round 1 of the Third Wars, Hefty went up against fellow newcomers X-Terminator. Both robots started quickly with Hefty dodging X-Terminator's axe. Then X-Terminator landed an axe blow and its axe got stuck, but when it attempted to retract its axe Hefty was lifted up and was pushed onto its back. Sir Killalot then came in and lifted Hefty up by the track, and dumped it into the pit, eliminating Hefty from the competition.
