Caliban was a middleweight robot built by Team WhoopAss for the final three seasons of BattleBots. It was an invertible silver box-shaped robot armed with eight static titanium blades so the robot could deal damage as it spun. It performed decently in competition, reaching the round of 64 in Season 4.0.
Robot History[]
BattleBots Comedy Central Season 3.0[]
Caliban's only match in Season 3.0 was against SMD. SMD won by KO at 1:47 and Caliban was eliminated from the tournament.
BattleBots Comedy Central Season 4.0[]
Caliban's first match in Season 4.0 was against Slap Happy. Both robots circled each other and did a bit of hitting and pushing. Later, Caliban got more aggressive. Caliban had a nasty spin-in-place move; much stronger than Slap Happy's, and also a lower profile. Caliban got underneath Slap Happy multiple times and Slap Happy appeared to be losing control later in the fight. The big hits from Caliban must have broken something internal. In the end, the time ran out and Caliban won on a 31-14 judge's decision. This win put Caliban to the final preliminary round, where it faced Maddgoth.
In the beginning, Caliban got under Maddgoth and pushed it around the BattleBox and later against the spikestrip. Both robots maneuvered and pushed each other for a while. Eventually, Maddgoth maneuvered itself against into the arena wall. Caliban pushed Maddgoth against the spikestrip again and Maddgoth was now stuck. It was being counted out and Caliban won by KO. This win put Caliban to the TV rounds, where it faced 2925 Jack Rabbit.
In the beginning, Jack Rabbit went straight at Caliban and hitting it straight on. This hit caused the right drive chain to come off. After Jack Rabbit was hitting Caliban a few more times, Caliban got caught on the entrance ramp and was counted out. Jack Rabbit won by TKO and Caliban was eliminated from the tournament again.
Because it lost in the round of 64, Caliban couldn't participate the middleweight consolation rumble at the end of the tournament.
BattleBots Comedy Central Season 5.0[]
Caliban's only match in Season 5.0 was against Nemesis. Nemesis won by KO and Caliban was eliminated from the tournament once again.
