Chrome Fly

Chrome Fly (also spelled ChromeFly according to the official BattleBots website) is a robot which competed in Season 2 of ABC's BattleBots reboot. It was armed with dual spinning blades and was joined with a flying drone. It performed decently as it reached the round of 32 in its debut season.

Robot History

Chrome Fly's first ever match in BattleBots was against Bucktooth Burl. Before the match began, Chrome Fly's drone was attached with a magnetic rake in order to disable Bucktooth Burl's spinning blades. In the beginning of the match, Bucktooth Burl was unable to get its weapon working properly, but when Chrome Fly hit Bucktooth Burl, the impact sent one of Chrome Fly's blades flying and left the other one disabled. Bucktooth Burl started pushing Chrome Fly against the arena wall and the drone dropped its magnetic rake on top of Bucktooth Burl. After this, the battle ended up being a pushing match for Chrome Fly and Bucktooth Burl started smoking toward the end of the match. The time ran out and Chrome Fly managed to win on an unanimous 3-0 judge's decision. This win put Chrome Fly into the round of 32 with its No.31 seeding, where it faced the No.2 seed Bronco.

Before the match began, Chrome Fly was fitted with small wedge skirts on both sides to prevent getting flipped by Bronco. In the beginning of the match, Chrome Fly got its spinning blades going and Bronco reversed into it, leaving a small shower of sparks. Both robots were moving around the BattleBox and Bronco got its rear wedge under one of Chrome Fly's spinning blades. This hit caused Chrome Fly's spinning blade to rip off its top armor and stopped moving immediately. Bronco backed away and went straight at the immobile Chrome Fly. This hit ripped off one of Chrome Fly's spinning blades and Bronco flipped it on its back toward the pulverizer. Bronco tried to flip Chrome Fly out of the BattleBox, but it landed on the railing and left it there. As Chrome Fly was being counted out, Bronco went after Chrome Fly's immobilized drone and tried to flip it, but it wasn't successful as it missed two times. In the end, Bronco won by KO at 1:00 and Chrome Fly was eliminated from the tournament.
